Featured artists at Otago Art Society
This is an annual event at the art society through the cruise ship season and once again Brenda and I shared the time and we had so much fun. The artists work from Monday to Sunday and change over each week so there is something interesting and new happening all the time. It was busy with both cruise ship visitors, independent travelers and locals coming up to the galleries, watching us demonstrating and asking questions about our work. I always enjoy time shared with people, talking art - and travel - be they locals or from around the world. Its a time when everyone is happy and enjoying their day and they bring that into our world too. The two small works above that you saw in the last newsletter sold at this event, along with some gift cards and a couple of my poems. From time to time I write a poem to accompany a painting. If some one buys a painting that has a poem I give the poem as a gift in appreciation of their purchase, though they are also available for sale.
What's coming up?
There is always something on the easel and I have one now that I am working on, from my time in Fiordland in July this year. I dont think I have ever been so excited when starting a new work and continuing with that excitement every time I pick up the brush. I normally look forward to every painting and enjoy it, the enjoyment growing as the work progresses, but this time it just feels beyond that.
I am keen to show you all but not until its finished so watch this space!
