Hi everyone,
First and foremost I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a
wonderful new year filled with all the things that make your days
bright and cheerful. Good health, good friends and much happiness.
Life changes as the years go by. Younger family members have extended
families to try to sort where to go, what to do to keep everyone happy.
Its normal, its life. This year Christmas diner is at mine and I am so
looking forward to that. There is shortbread in the oven right now,
brandy balls done, Christmas cakes iced and ready. Yes that was plural.
Family like to take some home and I enjoy that. Trifle and Cheese cakes
are ready except for the cream on top, so only the main meal to deal
with on the day. I'm really looking forward to it.
What are you doing for Christmas day? I hope you all have some lovely
plans for the big day, shared with family, friends or whatever makes
you most happy.

Featured artists at Otago Art Society
This is an annual event at the art society through the cruise ship
season and once again Brenda and I shared the time and we had so much
fun. The artists work from Monday to Sunday and change over each week
so there is something interesting and new happening all the time. It
was busy with both cruise ship visitors, independent travelers and
locals coming up to the galleries, watching us demonstrating and asking
questions about our work. I always enjoy time shared with people,
talking art - and travel - be they locals or from around the world. Its
a time when everyone is happy and enjoying their day and they bring
that into our world too. The two small works above that you saw in the
last newsletter sold at this event, along with some gift cards and a
couple of my poems. From time to time I write a poem to accompany a
painting. If some one buys a painting that has a poem I give the poem
as a gift in appreciation of their purchase, though they are also
available for sale.
What's coming up?
There is always something on the easel and I have one now that I am
working on, from my time in Fiordland in July this year. I dont think I
have ever been so excited when starting a new work and continuing with
that excitement every time I pick up the brush. I normally look forward
to every painting and enjoy it, the enjoyment growing as the work
progresses, but this time it just feels beyond that.
I am keen to show you all but not until its finished so watch this
space!
Well its Christmas Eve already here and I had hopped to have this out
before now. Life gets busy and things get in the way sometimes so I'll
just make this short as I know you too will be busy. Have fun with
family, especially if you have young ones.
Thank you for being such a lovely part of my life, following my journey
through my newsletters. I do appreciate that. Till next time!
Warm wishes to you all
Lorna
